Las Vegas is the main setting of this novel. The Mint Hotel is the first hotel that the characters stay in. Vegas is a very fitting setting for this novel. Life in Vegas is crazy, which makes the characters experiences with drugs even crazier. It is hard to imagine the setting of this novel being anywhere else. Raoul is becoming accustomed to the city of Las Vegas but finds it very harsh. Also, it is interesting to me that Vegas is a lot of dessert. The setting goes from practically nothingness to all of the spontaneity of downtown Las Vegas. I am excited to read on and see how the city treats the main characters.
